Dear Cuddington members

BRIAN GOODGER

Some of our new members last year may not know, or know of, Brian, so I'll simply summarise by saying he has been a stalwart and much respected member of the club and dear friend to many over many years. Sadly, he was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour last year. Yesterday Graham Green heard the latest news about Brian from Les Smith at Malden Manor (where Brian was previously a member and who is in contact with Brian's son, Daniel), which I'm copying below.

The prognosis sadly is that Brian's condition is terminal and he has probably only a matter of weeks, or even less, left. He was discharged from hospital before Christmas as he wanted to spend his final days back at home with his family.

Brian needs 24 hour care at home, but unfortunately the NHS is not able to provide funding for this. Daniel has therefore set up a JustGiving.com crowd-funding appeal to try and raise £15,000 to pay for 4 carers to come in day and night. He has asked Les to inform everyone at Malden Manor about it who might wish to help by making a donation, and Les has asked me (Graham) in turn if I would let people at Cuddington BC know about it also, which of course I agreed to do, and I said I would do the same for King George Field IBC, as there are many people at both clubs who know Brian and will want to have an opportunity to help.
